The Christmas holidays are over for this year. I did not look forward to starting to work again. It turns out that it is quite nice to have a vacation. But now I have worked for a few days, and they have been some of my best in a while. I have had no meetings, very few emails, and no deadline in sight. I have spent my days learning about Markov chains (with this nice YouTube series) and reading the book Mathematics for Machine Learning (btw an excellent book). I have felt so relaxed and full of energy.
